Public Speaking Success for St Mary’s!
Transition year students Ceri Doyle and Maja Grondzewska recently competed in Soroptomist International’s Annual Public Speaking Competition. The aims of the competition are to encourage girls to play a more prominent part in public life, to improve the art of communication, to encourage girls to develop skills to speak effectively and to articulate with clarity and of course, to develop self-confidence and personality.
The local heat of the competition took place in the Mansion House on the 18th November.
Students from a number of schools participated including; Loreto Balbriggan, Notre Dame and Colaiste Pobalscoil Setanta. Both Ceri and Maja delivered inspiring speeches and spoke passionately on the topics of female empowerment and how education can be used in the fight against terrorism.
