Iceland Trip!

Fantastic Iceland Trip – Thursday 26th October to Monday 30th October 2017

Forty one students and five staff (and a sloth!) had a great start to their midterm break as they enjoyed a five day trip of a lifetime to Iceland! Students loved the following breath-taking activities as part of their Iceland adventure: they participated in a glacier walk; they stepped inside a lava tunnel which was formed from immense volcanic activity; they visited the natural wonder of the Blue Lagoon that is located in a lava field; they viewed the Kerid Crater which is a volcanic crater lake along the Golden Circle, unique in that it contains red rock as opposed to black rock; they stood on the famous basalt sea stacks on Reynisfjara; they observed the majestic and beautiful waterfalls including the Skógafoss and the Seljalandsfoss – the latter curtain of water drops 60 metres and has its origin in a volcano glacier and is one of the most photographed waterfalls in the world. Thanks in particular to Ms Byrne for undertaking the mammoth task in organising such a wonderful memorable trip for the students. Thanks also to staff members Ms Devaney, Ms Murphy, Ms Walsh and Mr Beirne for accompanying the students on the trip.Iceland1 Iceland2 Iceland3
