Green Schools Committee meet with An Taisce
Green Schools Committee prepare for An Taisce’s final visit for our green flag for travel
Martha Gouldsbury from An Taisce will be visiting Saint Mary’s Holy Faith today for the last time to assess our progress for our travel flag. She will be conducting a survey among some class groups. The results from her previous visit were very encouraging. The students saying that they walk to school is now at 32% compared to 19% before we started our campaign for the Green Flag. So well done everyone for your efforts!
The committee have been very busy in preparation. The Green Schools noticeboard has had a makeover. Posters have been put up in classrooms reminding teachers about how they can reduce their energy consumption. Posters have also been put up in all the bathrooms reminding students to conserve water. Colin has been busy too putting 500ml bottles of water in nearly all of the cisterns. This will save us 500ml of water per flush – around 106,400 litres a year of water.
Meanwhile the TY students have been putting the finishing touches on their video to encourage all students to recycle more. Great work everybody!
