Our Ember Team have been very busy since they took up office in May.
In June the team completed their three day training programme in Ovoca Manor, in Avoca, Co. Wicklow alongside other Ember Teams from across the Dublin Diocese. During the training they learnt the art of team building, and what they each bring to the team in skills and talents. The training is a mix of group activities and outdoor team building challenges provided by the experienced Ovoca Manor staff. The training also offered moments of reflection and prayer as this is at the heart of what it means to be an Ember Team member. They also had time to get a deeper knowledge of themselves as individuals and there were many moments of real self-discovery and self-development which was a part of the training the girls really loved.
Start of Year Mass
Our start of year mass took place this year on Tuesday 19th September in the beautiful Our Lady of Victories Church on the Ballymun Road. The mass was concelebrated by Fr Richard Sheehy and Fr Frank Reburn and the theme for the mass was the family. We were privileged to have the specially commissioned WMOF2018 Icon of the Holy Family that was unveiled and anointed on the 21st August 2017, during the launch of the one-year programme of preparation which will culminate with The World Meeting of Families in August 2018.
Our Ember Team was invaluable in their involvement in the preparation, planning, and organisation of this important school event.
Mass for the Opening of the Academic Year St Pat’s DCU
The Ember Team members have also represented the school at the Mass for the Opening of the Academic Year in St Pat’s DCU on 25th September. This was an important event and the Mass was celebrated by the Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin. Five Ember team members took time out from their busy study schedule to attend.
The next project they are planning is a mini retreat day for 1st year classes, which will be led by the team before the October mid-term break. The team are truly ‘Faith in Action’.
