Due to the huge interest showed by the first years, we entered both a first year premier and Division 2 team this year.
Our Division 2 team lost just one game in its league matches to St. Mary’s School, Killester. It beat Maryfield B, Santa Sabina B and St. Mary’s, Baldoyle to advance to the quarter final. The girls went on to play Maynooth in the Quarter Final, securing a place in the semi-final winning by ten points. They met Mount Sackville in the semi-finals. The girls put up a great challenge but Mount Sackville students were very strong competitors and we lost the match by six points in the end. With twenty teams in the division 2 championship, making it into the top four is no mean feat. Well done girls!
The premier team was up against some very tough competition. Its opening game against Maynooth ended in a draw. The girls went on to beat Santa Sabina by a margin of six points and Manor House by one point. They met Santa Sabina again in the final. The match was a draw up to the last quarter but it was to be Santa Sabina’s day and we were defeated by six points in the end. Well done to all the students who trained hard all season and I know both our first year teams are determined to go one step further next year!
