A beautiful day for a hockey match!Thursday 11th Feb was the perfect day for the 1st year match against Mt Sackville. The sun was shining and for the first time in ages the wind wasn’t blowing a gale. The game started well with St Mary’s working hard in the mid field and setting up a beautiful goal scored by Rose Roy. The backs held off some intense pressure from Mt Sackville when they had a number of short corners. Goalie Aoibhean Kennedy had some great saves. Unfortunately Mt Sackville managed to pull back a goal to level the scores. St Mary’s attacked quickly and were rewards with a second goal from Phrarmai Perkins. Just before the half time whistle Mt Sackville equalised. The half time whistle brought a welcome rest as the intensity was immense.
The second half brought another great test with both sides working hard. Both had opportunities but unfortunately St Mary’s were unable to find the back of the goal. In the last few minutes of the match Mt Sackville scored two quick goals and try as hard as we could we couldn’t get any back. The game ended 2-4 to Mt Sackville. Well done to all the team!
