Open Night 2013
St Mary’s open night was held on Tuesday 24th Sept.2013
We would like to thank all the Primary School children, their parents and families for attending the open evening. But this night would not have been the success it was without all those who helped in so many ways. So a great big thank you to all the teachers, other members of staff, parents and the huge number of students who helped out in so many ways on the night. As can be seen below. Parents, primary school children and there families were welcomed by Mrs Lennon as they entered the choir hall and were greeted by the beautiful sound of music supplied by Mr Coll, Ms O Rourke and some of the music students from St. Marys
Ms O Keeffe and Ms Donohoe co-ordinate the Transition Year in St. Mary’s and they provided parents and their children with a wide variety of information in relation to Transition Year including the different modules and activities that take place during the year
Members of The Student Council were also in attendance at the open night. In St. Mary’s Student Council, Mrs Hughes is the student council co-ordinator and the Council liaise with the management of the school to agree the make-up and role of the council within the school.
St. Mary’s has a very active parents association who are always delighted to welcome new members and helpers and so some of the members were also present (pictured below) at the open night to let parents know how they might be able to get involved in their child’s new school. Our wonderful clerical staff (below) were kept very busy at the open night with huge numbers of young primary school students looking to apply for places in St. Mary’s

Ms Walker gives one of the senior students an opportunity to explains to all present how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet in German (below)

Some of the junior students gave a little lesson to some of the visitors to the school in French encouraged by Ms Walker. (below)
Some of the 2nd year Home Economics students assisted Ms Doheny in demonstrating the Home Economic skills that they have learned during class.

In the music room students entertained all the visitors to a beautiful array of music and song.
The science labs were very busy on the night with students dissecting hearts and kidneys etc. and others demonstrating some of the many experiments that they work on during the course of the school day.
The visitors to the school had an opportunity to see the school Prayer Room looking beautiful (below) The students and staff can take some quiet time out here during the day to pray or meditate alone or in groups.
