A group of thirteen TY students represented St.Mary’s at the National Architects in School Initiative in Waterford City’s new public space’The Apple Market’ on Friday 18th May as part of the Waterford Festival of Architecture. Their exciting project was was carried out with the guidance of architect Evelyn Darcy and in conjunction with 4th year architecture students from DIT. They were investigating and designing a space where students could meet and eat in the courtyard of the school. This space might also double as an exhibition area. Plans are now well under way for the completion of this project and we are deeply indebted to Evelyn from the Architects in Schools Initiative and to Sima and her wonderful team from DIT who worked so closely with the girls even affording them the opportunity to visit their own workshops for a day of total immersion in the world of architecture.
